THE BEGINNING
Why it all connects?
An out of the blue opportunity to sell "lovely dresses", in partnership with a selfless lady entrepreneur, who has a kind heart, to share her designs to people who wanted to build their own clothing businesses. Her only intention was to keep providing work for the people that depends. on her business for livelihood. It was a sincere intention to help! Her kindness of sharing her designs has now spread out all over the world, which continues to create a ripple effect.
I saw an. opportunity to get involved into something that I am interested in, and related to the deeper purpose of what she does. I realized that there could be greater good that can be achieved if a lot of budding entrepreneurs will get involved. I was sure to myself that I want to be a part of it! A creation of a business that can eventually help promote small businesses in the Philippines and introduce the finest Filipino craftsmanship in Canada. A deeper and meaningful purpose of doing business.
Being a Business Management graduate myself, my inclination for commerce came out. My love for fabrics and designs, made me interested to follow her work more. I was truly inspired by her commitment to ensure the continued employment of the people that works for her. It has been a long time dream for me to be a part of anything bigger that helps people thrive!
Through her work, I remembered how much I enjoyed working with fabrics. I came back to sewing, a hobby that I have stopped doing for a long time for a personal reason. The longer I followed her journey, the more I became determined to be a part of her work. I invested time and did the necessary preparations to build my own business. During my free time, the two hours time I have ahead before my shift was spent conceptualizing the name of the business, communicating and resourcing, costing, researching, and planning. I lifted it up to God, that if the partnership is meant to happen, it will eventually.
Surprisingly, everything seemed to flow so easy for me. I was blessed with new people that helped me understand the industry better. Also, a blessing in disguise, I had the chance to take some. time-off from work, an unexpected free time that allowed me to take care of all the necessary requirements to register the company.
One sign kept leading to another:
The Brand:
Honor thy Mother
"Lovely Ehlssa"- relates to the nickname of our mother "Elsa", also the acronym for all the lovely nieces in the family. Who would have known, that the name given by my sister to all the girls in the family would be the perfect choice for the name of our brand. An acronyms we all never noticed until now that the " Lovely Ehlssa" brand is established. Ehlssie, Lexene, Shireen, Sharleen, and Alexandra. The name choice, easily translates my love for the family.
The Name of the Dress
AMALIA
One of the dresses' name is Amalia, also the name of our mother.
The Company
Ryhsse PH
Named after the first born of our brother, who has the quality of a leader, and a young girl that knows how to persevere and fight in life to make things happen for herself and her family. Her nickname is Shy, so instead of Rise, the is in the middle was replaced with yhs, Shy in reversed.
It can also be read as, RISE PH, relates to the commitment of "Lovely Ehlssa" to resource and promote Philippine made products, which could also help (in its small way) the livelihood of some of the Filipinos. Targeting the small sectors that needs extra support. Also, resourcing products from small businesses and showcasing their finest clothing creations. Long-term, in our small little way, helping promote Philippine products in Canada. A way to give back to the country where I came from. Overtime, as I worked on the development of this endeavour, I realized the opportunity of making these missions the goal of the company. Little did I know, that while I am conceptualizing all the "purpose" that I am seeking for will eventually get its way through this venture. Including the mission to carry on funding the education of one or two students, whatever the percentage of the profit can afford as the "Lovely Ehlssa" brand progresses and continues to operate.
The Signs to Start and Extra Help
The Other Brand Name
Lovely Ehlssa in Vancouver
Pretty Lor in Toronto
The same mall where the business was conceptualize are giving new entrepreneurs a chance to to show case their products in their commercial store at a low cost. The signage, is exactly posted where I walk to work in the morning. Where I conceptualize the business. It was like telling me that I could sell it anywhere, market won't be a problem.
The Models
A colleague was offering a contact for models that charge no service fees to build their portfolios. I was humbled more, because it is a fact that I just have a small business and a start-up, but all my needs to start was being presented on me, even without me asking.
IT ALL CONNECTS
My "LOVE FOR THE FAMILY", LOVE FOR FABRIC AND DESIGNS, AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO CARRY ON IMPROVING LIVES
From the conception of the business name, and the extra assistance that divinely being handed to me. I realized that it all connects to what I really want to achieve; for the people I know of that having financial difficulty in life. It is hard not to embrace an opportunity that could eventually help and improve other people's lives, and if it succeeds it could mean change for long-term for future beneficiaries. With all the signs and the help that is being presented, I came to realize that this is a chance to carry on something that I like doing for others. Helping change lives through educational funding for youth that require assistance in their education in the Philippines.
I realized that in my own little way, a business venture could eventually earn proceeds that can be committed to helping youth's education. Even school supplies, or anything small that I could afford to give, as this business progresses.
Having relatives myself that cannot sustain all their needs and struggling with their day to day necessities. It is painful that I can only do little to help! It is all the more painful when it is the young that cannot do as much yet for themselves. I realized that through this endeavour, I'll be able to help more and might carry on with sponsoring one or two students for college education. I am a firm beiiever that when God pours us extra blessing, it is HIS way of blessing others through us, because He knows that we will not keep it all through ourselves, and will share it to others!
I realized that if I put in the hard work to make this endeavour successful, i can carry on helping the underprivileged youth that needs support. It is a blessing to be given an opportunity to head something that might become a way of helping one or two students to assist with their education from the portion of the company's profit each year. It will be a long-term commitment, and will carry on as long as Ryhsse Ph is running as an entity. The mission of helping change lives for others will carry on from generation to generation as time passes, if God will allow to happen.
Wholeheartedly, I am embracing the opportunity that seemed to be presented by God to fulfill His higher purpose!
